Rule Reminder re Abandoned Matches: We have seen a number of abandoned match cards without any players names on them. The year before last, this was relaxed, in that if the names are on the card then they would still count as an appearance. By sending in blank cards without players names clubs are putting themselves at a disadvantage.

Playing invalid players correctly: Sometimes we are forced to play an invalid player and score the sets to love. If you have two invalid players, then it makes sense to play them together so that you are invalidating just one pair's sets of results instead of two pairs.

Cecil Cup Quarter Finals: This is this Sunday. There have been some problems re eligibility for some teams. Some have had both an open date and an abandoned match making two appearances difficult. Anyway, those concerned have contacted the Match Secretary in advance of the match, which is the right thing to do.

The Bolton Tournament: The problems with the LTA have been resolved and it is now open for all entries.

Player Eligibility Checkers: Paul Cashmore writes,

It may be worth mentioning the player eligibility checkers which are on the web site. Using the appropriate eligibility checker, a team selector can enter a player’s club and player name for the next upcoming fixture and get an indication of whether any rule would be broken. The selector can then choose a different player and avoid a potential fine and the overturning of a match score due to sets being score 6-0.

The eligibility checker is particularly useful for checking player selection when that club has a team with an open date. It also helps towards the end of the season where additional rules start to apply. The links to these eligibility checkers are as follows:

Mens Player Eligibility Checker
Ladies Player Eligibility Checker
Mixed Player Eligibility Checker
Junior Player Eligibility Checker
