Minutes of the Bolton Tennis League Committee meeting held at 7pm on Wednesday, 11th February 2026 at Lostock Tennis Club.
Present: Messrs. Caswell, Maslivec, Pearson, Nuttall, Saunders, Taylor, Ms B Holmes, Ms J Holmes & Ms Morley.
Apologies for absence: Mr Prince, Ms L Cartwright, Ms K Caldwell, S Francis, & Mrs V Browne.
The chairman reiterated his remarks from the AGM for those who were not there, thanking the Committee for all their hard work.
Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.
Matters Arising: It was asked whether the Cecil Cup result had been sorted for the website archive results.
The General Secretary was under the impression that it was with the cup photos on the current site. (This has since been checked and it is there together with a copy of the match card.)
Barrow Bridge now have enough men for at least one more season. It was said that some clubs have an abundance of players for possible use.
Correspondence: None, except one from Chorley, which would be incorporated under League Setup.
General Secretary: A list of clubs that had not yet paid their guarantee fee was read.
League SetUp: This was attempted, but was held up as one large club that was having work done had withdrawn all its teams. It had been suggested that courts at other venues may be available. It was unknown at present whether this could be done. The setup will have to be sorted by 11th March in time for the next meeting on the 18th.
Calendar: All days had been dropped back one day apart from the August bank holiday, which was moved to the end of the month.
It was agreed to use the very first bank holiday for a men’s league match so that the men’s league would finish a week earlier.
Treasurer: As the General Secretary had said. Some clubs need chasing for their guarantee fees.
Winter League: The league is now halfway through the second half of the season. There have been a few instances of late arrivals of players to matches over the last three weekends. This led to uncertainty in a couple of matches as how to score the late-starting set. Team organisers were therefore emailed with information as how to manage this for the remainder of the season. The committee will then discuss how to formalise this at the end of the season, with the details being added to the website for future guidance.
Tournament: There will be a meeting next week. It is intended to have the brochure containing the draw and handicaps on a new Tournament website.
Presentation Evening: This would be on 11th September 2026. We need to think of a presenter. The ticket price? TBA.
Dunlop: The balls have been ordered and delivery arranged
LTA Network: They have money to loan grant to clubs of up to 3k. There will be a project meeting. Those who attend will vote for those they think have worthy projects. There is an AGM and forum meeting on the 11th of March, which is why our meeting will be the week after. There will be an incentive prize of £250 to encourage clubs to attend.
AOB: It was commented that Registration Night & collection of handbooks at Lostock seemed a waste of time as up to seven clubs did not attend. The General Secretary agreed and suggested using the method we did during Covid. They can collect from his house between 2pm and 8pm. This will save taking a large number of boxes up the stairs at Lostock and bringing a third of them back down again.
Date and Time of Next Meeting: Wednesday, 18th March 7pm at Lostock.
