Minutes of the Bolton Tennis League Committee meeting held at 7pm on Friday 24th July 2026 at Lostock Tennis Club.

This was an unscheduled meeting called to discuss correspondence received regarding two matches in the Mixed League.

Present: Messrs. Caswell, Pearson, Nuttall, Saunders, Smith, Taylor, S Francis & Ms J Holmes.

Apologies for absence: Messrs Maslivec & Prince, Ms L Cartwright, Ms K Caldwell & Ms Morley.

Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.

Matters Arising: A discussion took place re playing matches in the hot weather.
Players had been told in the newsletter to still put players' names on match cards for unplayed matches.
Re the LTA Network item. It only includes LTA affiliated clubs.

General Correspondence: A request had been made from Prestwich Tennis Club to field a high-standard team next season in the men’s Bolton League. It was said that we never accept a team into Division One without them earning the place. So, it would have to be Division Two, and it would have to go before the AGM in January.

Mixed League Correspondence: This came as a result of one night, which had particularly bad weather. Most matches had been abandoned. In these two cases, some wanted to call the match off, and others wished to continue. The first was abandoned at 4-1 and the second had been played to a finish 5-0, but the remaining sets were claimed. In the first case it was decided that the result should stand despite the frustration of the winning side as the rules had been applied correctly. In the second case it was decided the result should be amended to 5-0 as if a match is abandoned having been played to a result, no one can then claim the unplayed sets. It was asked for a reminder in the newsletter that clubs should keep match cards until the season end.

Most remaining traditional items were left for the August meeting except:

Presentation Evening: Most trophies had been returned polished. One trophy was lost. It was requested that we ask in the newsletter of those who were at last year's presentation. Two names were put forward as presenters.
